Prairie Lakes Mixed-Use Development

Sun Prairie, WI

Project Overview

A brand new retail shopping experience awaits visitors at Prairie Lakes in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. The 100-acre mixed-use development is anchored by four premier retail/entertainment destinations including Target, Costco, Marcus Palace Cinema, and Cabela’s. A Hilton Garden Inn and luxury apartment complex are adjacent to the development. raSmith has been working with Prairie Development since 2006, providing services that include land surveying, site planning, site engineering, traffic analyses, and landscape architectural services.

The development’s central shopping area serves as a destination for shoppers and visitors alike. It includes a central public plaza space with a water feature, internal landscaped green spaces, outdoor seating, and dining areas associated with restaurants such as Monk’s, Rocky Rococo, Which Wich Sandwiches, Noodles and Company, and Starbucks. A 75-foot-wide greenway bisects the site and contains native meadow grasses and limestone/sandstone boulders that were excavated from the site to help enhance the development’s aesthetics. Furthermore, the greenway contains a series of interconnected stormwater ponds, whose design helped to maximize the developable area while adding to the center’s visual appeal.
