Hales Happiness Water Conversion

Village of Hales Corners, WI

Project Overview

The Hales Happiness Water Conversion Project is a transformative $6.5 million initiative designed to address PFAS contamination in the groundwater affecting nearly 200 households in the Village of Hales Corners, Wisconsin. These persistent chemicals pose serious health risks, and the Village has responded with decisive action to ensure residents have access to clean, safe drinking water.

The Village is financing and constructing a new water distribution system connecting affected homes to Milwaukee’s municipal water supply. Upon completion, ownership of the infrastructure will transfer to Milwaukee Water Works, ensuring long-term sustainability through professional operation and maintenance. This strategic investment reflects the Village’s commitment to public health, safety, and resilience for future generations.

Legislative support has been critical to making this project a reality. Advocacy from local congressmen and senators was instrumental in helping to secure the necessary grant funding. The Hales Happiness Water Conversion Project stands as the largest infrastructure undertaking in the Village’s history and the largest water extension in Milwaukee Water Works history, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to public health, safety, and community well-being.
