We currently have an opening for a project manager in our Brookfield, WI market. The successful candidate will work with the other members of the project team to direct and coordinate construction inspection of raSmith projects.
Primary responsibilities:
- Leading the technical aspects of the project through innovative and creative solutions to overcome obstacles and ensure client satisfaction.
- Creates and maintains project schedules, stays on top of project budgets, and directs engineers and technicians involved with projects.
- Planning and executing QA/QC plans for individual projects and to represent the firm at meetings and conferences to resolve issues, coordinate work, and make public presentations.
- Involved with maintaining client relationships, coordinating inspection of Municipal projects, and supervising compliance with specifications.
Skills and requirements:
- At least seven years of progressive experience in construction and design-based engineering or construction inspection.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering and a professional engineer (P.E.) registration in Wisconsin is required.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D software is also required.
We currently have an opening for a co-op student to begin in January 2024 at our Brookfield, WI office (approximately 10 miles west of downtown Milwaukee). We are looking for students with an interest in gaining practical engineering experience through on-the-job training. The co-op tasks are diverse, depending on our current projects. On any given day, our co-op students could be working on the following types of activities: roadway design, utility (stormwater, sanitary) design, flow monitoring, and permit-related activity. raSmith co-ops receive extensive training and mentorship throughout their work terms, and they are highly regarded and sought after upon graduation.
Qualified Students must meet the following requirements:
- Must have completed the sophomore year of a 4-year Bachelor of Science program in civil engineering at an accredited college or university.
- Have technical skills to include exposure to AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office products.
- Able to solve basic engineering problems; good decision-making skills.
- Skilled at planning by accurately scoping out length and difficulty of tasks and projects.

We currently have an opening for a survey CAD technician who will assist the survey project managers with a variety of survey drafting duties.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Reviewing the assigned project files for necessary materials and information to carry out project scope and drafting tasks.
- Providing thorough analysis of field notes, legal descriptions, title easements, design plans, utility plans, and construction layout notes.
- Preparing survey documents including ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey, plat of survey, certified survey maps, topographic maps, transportation plats, condominium plats, subdivision plats, legal descriptions, and other survey exhibits.
- Developing an understanding of surveying concepts, our company business, and how surveying is integrated into plans and projects.

Skills and Requirements:
- An associate degree in a related field or a bachelor’s degree in surveying from an accredited school is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience.
- Knowledge of surveying methods, practices, and techniques as well as the legal aspects of surveying are required.

We currently have an opening for a project manager in our survey division in our Wisconsin market. This position will plan, direct, and supervise various projects to include cost estimating, planning, proper work execution, quality management, and other related activities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assessing project requirements and developing a sound approach to meet the needs of the project and the client, and stamp and sign surveys as Surveyor in Responsible Charge for property surveys.
- Prepare and review proposals, budgets, and invoices as well as acting as a mentor to other survey team members and providing training as needed. WisDOT survey and right-of-way plat experience is preferred.
- This person is also involved with maintaining client relationships and supervising compliance with specifications.

Skills and Requirements:
- A Wisconsin P.L.S. is required.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepares construction documents from data and specifications submitted by engineers.
- Utilizes computer-aided drafting techniques to perform applicable work.
- Adds engineering markings to plan sets.
- Alters drawings to conform with engineering changes.
- Analyzes drawings to make sure they are accurate.
- Marks drawings, as necessary, to indicate any changes that may be required to meet quality control standards.

This position, either individually or as part of a team, is responsible for the overall design and coordination of structural building-related projects from inception through completion of construction. Our firm is currently seeking a full-time wetland ecologist/project manager at our Brookfield location. This is an exciting opportunity, as the successful candidate will be assisting us to build our ecological services group. This group is a team of ecological specialists who provide our clients with expertise in wetland delineation and assessment, wetland and waterway permitting, wetland mitigation/restoration design, native habitat restoration design, botanical and wildlife surveys, tree inventories, and rare and endangered species surveys.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Candidates should have 8+ years of professional experience in addition to the following qualifications:
- Knowledge of regulatory programs and guidance (working relationships with agency staff is a plus).
- Experience in wetland and waterway field delineations, as well as reporting and permitting.
- Professionally Assured WDNR Wetland Delineator status is a plus.

- Assisting the construction manager with the coordination of all construction activities and providing daily inspection of construction activities.

Roadway/Utility Inspector Requirements:
- Successful candidates will have previous foreman, tradesman, contractor, or inspection experience on either DOT or municipal roadway or underground utility projects.

Primary Responsibilities:
As a seller-doer, this person will serve as project manager or technical lead on bridge-related projects. Technical responsibilities include:
- Active participation in business development activities including project pursuits, client management, and organizational involvement.
