WIS 28

Sheboygan County, WI

Project Overview

raSmith provided transportation engineering, traffic engineering, and survey services for this project along WIS 28 in Sheboygan County. The project involved more than 13 miles of resurfacing with mill & overlay work across both rural and urban sections of the corridor. Additional improvements included the replacement of select culvert pipes, removal of a cattle pass, curb & gutter repairs, and the replacement of all existing beam guard.

Within the Villages of Cascade and Waldo, raSmith designed over 40 curb ramps to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. The project required real estate acquisition in areas involving culvert replacements, beam guard upgrades, and curb ramp improvements. The team prepared a Transportation Project Plat to address real estate needs and developed acquisition exhibits for locations requiring only Temporary Limited Easements (TLEs).

This project also included a reconstruction segment to replace the bridge over the North Branch of the Milwaukee River in the Village of Cascade. The existing structure was replaced with a wider bridge that includes pedestrian accommodations. A small section of storm sewer was replaced with additional inlets installed to improve roadway drainage near the bridge.
