Village of Grafton WIS 60 & 12th Avenue Intersection Upgrade

Grafton, WI

Project Overview

To improve safety and traffic flow at the busy WIS 60 and 12th Avenue intersection, the Village of Grafton partnered with raSmith and secured support through WisDOT’s Signals and ITS Standalone Program (SISP). With over 30,000 vehicles traveling through daily, the project delivered impactful upgrades—without overextending the Village’s budget.

Project Improvements:

  • Signal system upgrades with video detection and emergency vehicle preemption
  • ADA-compliant pedestrian push buttons and signal heads
  • Reconfigured lane assignments and updated pavement markings
  • Direct equipment purchasing to reduce lead times and costs

By designing within the existing footprint and incorporating multimodal enhancements, the project aligned well with SISP criteria—strengthening the grant application and streamlining approvals. raSmith guided the Village through traffic analysis, application preparation, and final design delivery.
