CTH L Rehabilitation

Kenosha County, WI

Project Overview

Kenosha County retained raSmith to provide design and construction engineering services for the CTH L Rehabilitation from STH 31 to 39th Avenue within the Village/Town of Somers and City of Kenosha. The project included full-depth asphalt pulverizing in conjunction with edge excavation to accommodate proper pavement structure within the roadway shoulders. The existing roadway profile was also evaluated, detailed, and corrected in some locations to improve the vertical curvature. Pulverized materials were utilized for backfilling of the edge excavation, resulting in minimal material hauling and overall project cost savings. Four roadway cross culverts were also replaced as part of the project, for which the design team coordinated with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR). Additionally, extensive coordination was conducted with the Village/Town of Somers to address drainage issues, as well as with the City of Kenosha Water Utility for improvements to the sanitary sewer manholes that existed within the project.
