National Railroad Museum Project Spotlight
The National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, Wisconsin, is the only railroad museum in the United States with a national designation. Established in 1956, it houses over 150,000 artifacts, including rolling stock, historic photographs, and manuscripts. As the museum continues to grow, a major expansion was undertaken to elevate the visitor experience, expand educational opportunities, and better showcase its historic assets. raSmith provided structural engineering services for the first phase of a long-term master plan, featuring a striking three-pin arch system, custom steel connections, and a 28-foot clear-span roof that creates an open interior. The project adds new exhibit space, classrooms, event areas, and track displays, while integrating views of the Fox River through expansive windows and an outdoor terrace.
