Project Overview
The Wind Creek Chicago Southland Casino in East Hazel Crest, Illinois, is a large-scale entertainment and hospitality development featuring a casino, hotel, dining venues, and multiple entertainment spaces. raSmith provided the interior cold-formed steel (CFS) engineering design for the project, delivering innovative structural solutions. CFS was selected for use in creating expansive open areas, high ceilings, and dramatic interior features. The building required CFS framing for 30+ foot floor-to-floor heights, large openings and soffits, radiused and sloping walls and soffits, and multi-tiered column covers, each complex on its own, and requiring highly coordinated design engineering. To address the project’s complexity, raSmith designed framing systems that utilized strongbacks, kickers, and continuous in-plane members to reduce the number of clips and labor-intensive connections.
Wind Creek Chicago Southland Casino received a 2025 SFIA Industry Project and Product Award in the Low-Rise Project category.
