Project Overview
The Maven is a seven-story residential building located in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. The development includes parking and resident amenities on the first floor, with apartment units on floors two through seven. The residential levels consist of load-bearing cold-formed steel (CFS) framing supporting composite joist and slab-on-deck floor systems and a roof structure above a precast concrete podium.
The building features inset and hanging balconies throughout the residential levels, as well as a rooftop terrace with planters, grill stations, and a pergola offering views of Lake Michigan.
raSmith provided structural engineering services for the project, including the design of exterior and interior load-bearing cold-formed steel wall systems, composite floor and roof joist systems, and the structural steel framing above the level-two podium. raSmith also provided prefabricated wall panel drawings for all structural wall systems.
