Sendik’s Food Market

Whitefish Bay, WI

Project Overview

raSmith provided civil engineering, land surveying, and landscape architecture services for the redevelopment of Sendik’s Food Market in Whitefish Bay. The project replaced an aging neighborhood grocery store with a modern, two-story grocery destination designed to better serve the community while maintaining operations at the existing store throughout construction. The project transformed the site into a significantly expanded retail facility featuring a new grocery market, outdoor gathering spaces, a pocket park with seating and decorative lighting, restaurant and café amenities, and enhanced customer parking and circulation.

As a public-private partnership, the project required close coordination between Sendik’s Food Market, the Village of Whitefish Bay, and other stakeholders. raSmith worked closely with Village staff to balance public and private sector objectives, helping ensure the successful integration of site improvements with surrounding community amenities and public infrastructure. Services included the design and coordination of parking facilities, pedestrian connections, utility improvements, stormwater management systems, landscape enhancements, and other supporting site infrastructure needed to accommodate the larger building footprint.

Located along the prominent Silver Spring Drive and Lake Drive corridors, the project supports continued investment in downtown Whitefish Bay while enhancing accessibility, site functionality, the pedestrian experience, and the overall customer experience.
