Project Overview
A special project is currently underway to create Milwaukee’s first universally accessible and inclusive playground at Kilbourn Reservoir Park. The site design team at raSmith is collaborating with the Stella’s Playground team, City of Milwaukee DPW Park staff, Kahler Slater, UWM Community Design Solutions, KOMPAN, and GRG Playscapes to develop the conceptual site plan for Stella’s Playground.
Inspired by a courageous young girl named Stella, this project will be a vibrant, inclusive destination that welcomes everyone to play, share fun times, and build long-lasting memories together. The playground will feature universally inclusive and accessible areas for active and passive recreation, creative interaction, and a variety of fun activities. The existing site is sloped, which will add to the opportunities for year-round fun, including a sledding hill, chess park, dog exercise area, multi-purpose sport court, potential water feature, public art, and several other site enhancements.
