The presence of wetlands on a property can have a significant influence on land use and site development decisions. Our goal at raSmith is to facilitate our client’s project needs without compromising the important values that wetlands provide to the community.
Our staff of ecologists includes a Senior Professional Wetland Scientist (SPWS) and a WDNR Professionally Assured Wetland Delineator that provide over 20 years of experience in wetland delineation, determination, and assessment. Assured delineations are important because it means our clients do not need to wait for WDNR confirmation of wetland boundaries, which in turn expedites the project planning and regulatory permitting processes.
At raSmith, we understand that not all wetlands are easily identifiable to most people and require a trained eye and a keen understanding of wetland vegetation, soils, and hydrology. We perform preliminary wetland determinations to determine the feasibility of site development during early planning phases, as well as detailed wetland delineations necessary for planned site developments. Our team has performed hundreds of wetland delineations throughout Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana following methods found in the 1987 Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual and its adopted Regional Supplement Manuals.
Our ecological team is highly attuned to the methods and parameters that characterize wetland quality such as the WDNR’s Wetland Rapid Assessment Methodology. We are skilled in identifying the most invaluable wetlands to protect these resources while still meeting our clients’ needs. Our wetland surveying and GIS mapping capabilities, using the latest state-of-the-art equipment, allow us to provide our clients with a deliverable that can be invaluable during the early phases of project planning.
