The View and The Victoria at Huxley Yards

Madison, WI

Project Overview

The View and The Victoria at Huxley Yards are two large-scale affordable housing developments located within the redevelopment of the former Oscar Mayer site in Madison, Wisconsin. As part of the City’s long-term vision for a vibrant, mixed-use neighborhood, the projects deliver a combined 553 income-restricted residential units, significantly expanding access to quality housing for families and seniors.

The View is a six-story, 303-unit building that provides high-quality, affordable housing for individuals and families. The development offers one- to four-bedroom units with modern finishes. Community amenities include an outdoor pool and sundeck, fitness center, playground and rooftop courtyards, community classroom and flexible gathering spaces, bike storage and repair station, EV charging, and covered parking. The building features a unique design in which apartment units wrap around a six-story parking structure on three sides.

The Victoria is a thoughtfully designed 250-unit affordable housing community for adults aged 55 and older. Apartments feature accessible layouts, full kitchens, and optional in-unit amenities to support aging in place. Residents benefit from a variety of shared amenities, including a community room with kitchen, fitness center, craft and game rooms, elevated courtyards with green roof elements, and on-site programming and gathering spaces. Similar to The View, apartment units wrap around a parking structure on three sides. The development includes a three-story parking structure topped by a green roof and commons area that provides additional outdoor gathering space for residents.

raSmith provided comprehensive structural engineering design services for both developments.
