Project Overview
The Village of Menomonee Falls replaced existing lead water service lines (LSL) in an effort to reduce the potential health hazards associated with LSL. raSmith provided design and construction services for this project, which consisted of approximately 200 private (from the curb valve to the water meter within the house) lines and 20 public lines that were identified by the Village for replacement.
The replacement of the private LSL was partially funded through the Wisconsin DNR Lead Service Line Replacement Program. Any municipality that reported private lead or galvanized services lines to the Public Service Commission (PSC) was eligible to apply. Funding for line replacements on private property was awarded as principal forgiveness under the Safe Drinking Water Loan Program (SDWLP) with the public portion of the service line eligible for regular SDWLP funding.
In addition to the LSL replacements for the Village of Menomonee Falls, raSmith has worked on similar projects for the City of West Allis, Village of West Milwaukee, and City of Cedarburg.
