From September 16–30
Work on Park Avenue is continuing this week despite the wet weather. The contractor has been able to complete the grading and preparation of the road for paving.

The next operation that will be taking place is the installation of the new curb and gutter. Unfortunately, with the installation of the curb and gutter, it will be necessary for the contractor close your driveway during the operation. The contractor will be installing the curb and gutter on the east half of Park Avenue and will then complete the installation on the west half of Park Avenue, once access is restored to residents’ driveways on the east side.

The tentative schedule for the installation of the curb and gutter is as follows:

Monday, September 16
The contractor will be on site to set the string line that will be used for the actual installation of the curb. This string line will provide the paving machine with proper alignment and elevation for the new curb. The contractor will start work at 7 a.m. on Monday, weather permitting. If you live on the east side of Park Avenue, you will need to have your vehicle(s) out of your driveway by 7 a.m. and will not have access to your driveway for approximately seven to 10 days, again weather permitting. Please park on the west side of Park Avenue. The Village of Germantown is aware of this work and knows that residents will be parking on the roadway overnight.

Tuesday, September 17
The contractor will install the new curb and gutter section on the east side of Park Avenue. You will be able to walk on the new curb and gutter in approximately four hours; however, the concrete will require a five-day curing period to achieve the necessary strength for vehicular travel.

Wednesday–Friday, September 18–20
The contractor will be completing work on the driveway aprons and sidewalk on the east side of Park Avenue.

Monday, September 23
The contractor will restore access to the residents’ driveways of the east side of Park Avenue. Once access is restored, the contractor will begin setting string line on the west side of Park Avenue. Residents on the west side of Park Avenue need to have vehicles out of their driveways by 7 a.m. on Monday and should park on the east side of Park Avenue.

Tuesday, September 24
The contractor will install the new curb and gutter section on the west side of Park Avenue. You will be able to walk on the new curb and gutter in approximately four hours; however, the concrete will require a five-day curing period to achieve the necessary strength for vehicular travel.

Wednesday–Friday, September 25–27
The contractor will be completing work on the driveway aprons and sidewalk on the west side of Park Avenue.

Monday, September 30
Contractors will be on site restoring access to the residents’ driveways on the west side of Park Avenue.

We apologize for the inconvenience that this work will cause. Please note that the sequence of the work will not change if there is inclement weather and the time for allowing you access back into your driveway will be five days from the time that concrete is installed in your driveway.

August 16, 2019

Week of August 19 – 23

The contractor will be finishing the installation of the sanitary sewer and water services on Monday, August 19, or Tuesday, August 20. When the contractor completes the services on the project they will be starting on the installation of the storm sewer. The contractor is anticipating that the storm sewer work should take approximately 10 working days to complete. Once the storm sewer work is completed the contractor will be starting on the reconstruction of the roadway. Weather permitting, the contractor anticipates that they will have the project completed by the September 20 completion date.

August 9, 2019

Week of August 12 – 16

The contractor has completed the installation of the sanitary sewer main line and the water main on the project. This week the contractor will focus on the permanent re-connection of the sanitary sewer services from the property line to the new main. There will be no interruption to your sanitary sewer service while this work is taking place. The contractor also plans on installing the water services from the newly installed water main to the property line this week.

The contractor is anticipating that they will finish all work on the sanitary sewer and water main on the project by Thursday, August 16, weather permitting, and will then move onto the installation of the new storm sewer portion of the project. The contractor anticipates that the installation of the storm sewer should take approximately 2 weeks.  Upon completion of the storm sewer installation, the contractor will begin the grading and paving of Park Ave.

Weather pending, the contractor is still on schedule to have the project completed by the September 20 completion date.

July 26, 2019

For the week of July 29-August 3, the contractor will complete the relay of the sanitary sewer mainline. Once the sanitary sewer mainline relay is complete, the sanitary sewer laterals to each home and business on Park Avenue will be replaced. The sanitary sewer lateral will be relayed to a point approximately one foot beyond the sidewalk. This work will require sections of the sidewalk to be removed.  Kruczek Construction will be filling this area and maintaining the area where sidewalk has been removed. The concrete for the sidewalk will not be replaced until late in the project.

Please be aware that the sidewalks will have sections of concrete missing, so be careful when using the sidewalks.

Please note that during the work on the sanitary laterals there will be no interruption to your sanitary sewer service.

July 23, 2019

As you are aware, Waste Management did not pick up garbage as scheduled on Friday, July 19. They had mechanical issues with a truck and never made the pickup. Waste Management has rescheduled last Friday’s pickup for Tuesday, July 23. Waste Management is requesting that all trash bins be placed on the south end of Park Avenue near the intersection with Main Street and be placed on the east side of Park Avenue.  Pick up is scheduled for approximately 11:00 a.m. The trash pickup scheduled for Friday, July 26, will occur as scheduled.

Kruczek Construction will be continuing with installation of the sanitary sewer relay.  The contractor is again intending to work only a four-day week this week.

July 18, 2019

Due to weather conditions, the contractor will not be working on Park Avenue on Thursday, July 18 and Friday, July 19. The contractor is planning on returning to work on Monday, July 22, weather permitting.

July 15, 2019

1. The contractor started the sanitary sewer relay work on Monday, July 15. The contractor is anticipating completing the sanitary mainline work next week (week of July 22) followed by completing the sanitary lateral relay work.

2. The contractor has informed the Village of Germantown that they will only be working a four-day work week this week. This will not affect the scheduled completion date.

3.  Because the contractor is only working a four-day work week, there is no need to change the scheduled Friday garbage pickup. However, because of the amount of construction equipment and material on Park Avenue, please place your garbage in a location that is both visible and accessible to the garbage carrier. Thank you.

July 8, 2019

Tuesday, July 9 – Work on the project is scheduled to start with the closure of Park Avenue. All residents of Park Avenue will be allowed to access your properties for the majority of the project; however, traffic will not be allowed to use Park Avenue to go from Fond du Lac Avenue to Main Street.

Wednesday, July 10 – The existing asphalt pavement on Park Avenue will be removed. There is an existing layer of concrete pavement that will be left in place for residents to travel on.

Thursday, July 11 – The contractor intends to be on site to remove the trees on the west side of Park Avenue to allow for the reconfiguration of the roadway.

Monday, July 15 – The contractor intends to start work on the reconstruction of the sanitary sewer starting near the intersection of Park and Main Street and proceeding to Fond du Lac Avenue. Please note that you will have continuous sanitary sewer service during this work and that as a part of the project your existing sanitary sewer lateral will be reconnected to the new sanitary sewer main.  The contractor is anticipating that this work should take approximately 10 working days to complete.
