STH 167/USH 45 Interchange
Germantown, Wisconsin

Awarded 2003 Top Projects, "The Daily Reporter"

STH167 Construction services were provided to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for a $3.5-million interchange reconstruction at US Highway 45 and State Highway 167 in the village of Germantown.

The primary purpose of the project was to rebuild the interchange. In order to meet new federal vertical clearance regulations on Highway 41/45, the grade of the existing bridge was raised by two feet. This type of bridge construction is somewhat unique to Wisconsin in that a third bridge was added between two existing bridges as a way to widen the bridges and the roadway towards the center to utilize existing right-of-way.

Construction operations further included widening State Highway 167; adding left turn lanes at the approaches to the highway; and signalizing the north and southbound entrance and exit ramps.
