Awarded "2003 Best Consultant Urban Design, Statewide Excellence in Highway Design," Wisconsin Dept. of Transportation
A 2.2-mile, two-lane rural highway was designed to a divided four-lane urban roadway with terraces and sidewalks. It was a challenge to construct a safe and efficient four-lane roadway through tight urban conditions. Due to poor geometrics, lack of capacity, right-of-way limitations, inadequate sight distance, and a high crash history, intersections had to be reconfigured to improve alignment and sight distance. Design services included storm sewer/drainage, traffic signals, lighting, right-of-way plat, environmental assessment, and public involvement.
