R.A. Smith National Provides Landscape Architectural Design Services for the Rooftop Garden at Madison Children's Museum
BROOKFIELD, WIS. – R.A.Smith National (formerly R.A. Smith & Associates and its National Survey & Engineering Division) — civil engineering, planning, surveying, landscape architecture, GIS and 3D visualization consultants — Brookfield, Wis., is providing landscape architectural design services to The Kubala Washatko Architects for the Madison Children’s Museum Rooftop Garden.
A series of collaborative design meetings were held with R.A. Smith National’s landscape architectural group, The Kubala Washatko Architects and the Museum’s creative staff to establish the design criteria and the programming elements for the rooftop space.
All of the plantings for the rooftop garden are native to Wisconsin, which include Oak, Musclewood, Serviceberry and a “tree tunnel” made of a series of Tamarack trees. Many varieties of native wildflowers and grasses will also be used. The project also includes a water feature, exhibits, an event space and a children’s garden area. A drip irrigation system was developed for the specific plant types and water conservation.
R.A. Smith National also provided civil engineering and survey services for the site.
