R.A. Smith & Associates Provides Economic Development Planning Services to Hamilton County, Iowa, for Value-Added Agricultural Park
BROOKFIELD, WIS. – R.A. Smith & Associates, Inc. — civil engineering, planning, surveying, landscape architecture, GIS and 3D visualization consultants — Brookfield, Wis., is providing economic development planning services to Hamilton County, Iowa, for a potential value-added agricultural park to be developed along Interstate 35 near Williams, Iowa. The analysis will include a review of several potential locations for the park and recommend the most feasible location. The analysis will be completed by year end.
The Williams, Iowa project involves the completion of a feasibility analysis and the preparation of a master plan. The feasibility analysis will examine the physical qualities of the proposed site to evaluate conditions such as topography, transportation, utilities, and other resources or constraints which may affect the development potential of the location.
An analysis of industrial development trends in the region will be conducted to determine if there is demand that would warrant development of the industrial park. Development issues to be analyzed include approximate acreage needed, pricing, phasing, ownership, industry types likely to locate within the park; access, land use protections and infrastructure needs. An industry analysis will evaluate agricultural production and potential agricultural processing industries, as well as examine the area work force and availability for new business development. A development plan will be prepared to address regional cooperation, compatibility and competition.
