R.A. Smith National Adds Water Resources Group
BROOKFIELD, WIS. – R.A.Smith National (formerly R.A. Smith & Associates and its National Survey & Engineering Division) — civil engineering, planning, surveying, landscape architecture, GIS and 3D visualization consultants — Brookfield, Wis., has added a Water Resources Group to expand the firm’s surface water capabilities for the public and private sectors.
Gary Raasch and Cynthia DeBruine, formerly of Hey & Associates, Brookfield, Wis. have joined the newly established Water Resources Group.
R.A. Smith National’s enhanced capabilities include floodplain studies and floodplain boundary changes; wetland-impacts permitting and mitigation; stream modification and channel naturalization design; stormwater management planning and design; watershed analysis and planning; waterway permitting; dam failure analysis; and bridge hydraulics and sizing.
Richard Smith, president, said, “We are pleased to offer these enhanced water resources capabilities in-house as the challenges associated with managing stormwater, wetlands and floodplains are essential to the success of many of our clients’ projects.”
Gary Raasch, senior water resources project manager, has 33 years of water resources engineering and project management experience in the areas of stormwater management and flood control. He has managed feasibility studies, preliminary engineering designs, and the preparation of construction plans and specifications for a variety of clients including the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Federal Emergency Management Agency, large and small municipalities, county agencies, other consulting firms and private businesses.
Cynthia DeBruine, senior water resources engineer, has 29 years of experience in applying hydrologic and hydraulic models to urban stormwater and flooding problems. She has evaluated retention/detention facilities, wetland treatment systems, flow diversions, channel improvements and/or maintenance, channel relocation, levees, structure removal and/or replacement, storm sewer system analysis, and street flooding. Gary and Cindi are both Certified Floodplain Managers (CFM).
Gary Raasch lives in the city of Brookfield, Wisconsin. Cindi DeBruine lives in the town of Waukesha, Wisconsin.
