R.A. Smith & Associates Names New Associates

BROOKFIELD, WIS.  – R.A. Smith & Associates, Inc. — civil engineering, planning, surveying, landscape architecture, GIS and 3D visualization consultants — Brookfield, Wis., has named Tracy Farrand, Steve Miazga and Marty Worden as new associates of R.A. Smith & Associates and its National Survey & Engineering division.

Tracy Farrand is a group manager in the Land Development Services Division at National Survey & Engineering, a division of R.A. Smith & Associates. Tracy has more than 20 years of civil engineering experience, the last ten at National Survey & Engineering. She is responsible for the work of eight engineers and technicians and is registered as a professional engineer in seven states. Tracy’s experience includes retail, commercial, and residential development; military construction; storm water management and environmental issues; surveying; and project management. Recent projects designed by Tracy include Milwaukee Public Market (downtown Milwaukee), Park Shore (St. Francis, Wis.), Cabela’s (Richfield, Wis.), multiple sites for Wal-Mart (Germantown and Mukwonago, Wis. and other locations), and other large format retail developments that include Kohl’s, Pick ‘N Save, Menards, Best Buy and others.

Tracy lives in Waukesha, Wis.

Steve Miazga is a business development manager at R.A. Smith & Associates and its National Survey & Engineering division. Steve is responsible for corporate business development planning and implementation, strategic alliances and new markets development. Steve joined R.A. Smith in August 2002 and has been actively involved in local and national industry based associations, including the Wisconsin Builders Association, Metropolitan Builders Association, National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP), and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He has served on the ICSC CenterBuild Conference Program Planning Committee for four years and is presently Chair of Logistics and Technology for the 2007 event. Previously he owned and managed his own retail business and consulting engineering practice in Rhinelander, Wis., for 25 years. Prior to that experience, he worked for a national multi-disciplinary consulting firm, serving the public and private sectors.

Steve lives in Pewaukee, Wis.

Marty Worden is a group manager in the Land Development Services Division at National Survey & Engineering. He has more than 29 years of experience at National Survey & Engineering in project management and site design of institutional, retail, commercial, industrial, residential, and municipal

developments of varying size and complexity. Marty has worked on regional shopping malls in Arizona, Colorado, Louisiana, Illinois, Michigan, Oklahoma, and Texas and on numerous and varied projects in Wisconsin. Marty currently leads a team of seven engineers and technicians working on projects in Wisconsin and throughout the country. He holds a professional license in four states. Recent projects designed by Marty include Midtown Centre (formerly Capitol Court, Milwaukee); Granville Station (formerly Northridge, Milwaukee); The Shoppes at Brookfield Commons (Brookfield, Wis.); Spanish Fort Town Center (Spanish Fort, Alabama); South Mountain Crossing (Phoenix, Arizona) for developer Cypress Equities and owner Emmitt Smith and Lake Pleasant Crossing (Peoria, Arizona) for Cypress Equities.

Marty lives in Delafield, Wis.
