R.A. Smith National Plans Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Courses, August 2008

BROOKFIELD, WIS.  – R.A.Smith National (formerly R.A. Smith & Associates and its National Survey & Engineering Division) — civil engineering, planning, surveying, landscape architecture, GIS and 3D visualization consultants — Brookfield, Wis., is accepting registrations for the following upcoming ESRI-authorized geographic information systems (GIS) course.

Data Management in the Multi-User Geodatabase

When: August 11-13, 2008

Where: R.A. Smith National’s learning center, 16745 West Bluemound Road, Brookfield, Wisconsin

Instructor:  ESRI Staff

This course prepares GIS and database administrators to implement an ArcSDE geodatabase by teaching how to load and manage ArcSDE data. The course presents concepts applicable to both workgroup and enterprise ArcSDE geodatabases but focuses primarily on the enterprise ArcSDE geodatabase. Students learn the basic architecture of a multiuser geodatabase and are introduced to ArcSDE connection types.

ArcGIS Server Enterprise Configuration and Tuning for SQL Server

When: August 14-15, 2008

Where: R.A. Smith National’s learning center, 16745 West Bluemound Road, Brookfield, Wisconsin

Instructor: ESRI Staff

This course prepares SQL Server® database administrators to implement an enterprise geodatabase by teaching how to set up an individual ArcSDE server. Students get familiar with the ArcSDE architecture and learn how to configure SQL Server to support ArcSDE, install and configure ArcSDE, and identify and troubleshoot connection types and issues.

Who Should Attend:  The classes are open to any one who wants to use GIS as an effective tool for managing, analyzing and viewing relationships between tabular and spatial information. The classes benefit individuals employed in local government, land development, real estate, police/fire/emergency services, health care, education and others.

The training is part of the education component of R.A. Smith National’s SuccessGIS® program for successful GIS implementation.
