Administrative Services Part-time Clerk or Co-op Student - Brookfield, WI

Our firm has an immediate opportunity for an individual to work 20 hours per week Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Co-op or intern position in our Administrative Services area is a paid position. This is an exciting opportunity as the successful candidate will be exposed to real work life situations, and will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills attained as a student.

Job responsibilities for this administrative support position include:

  • Answering the telephone and greeting customers
  • Preparing packages for shipping (UPS, Courier, US Mail)
  • Photocopying and binding reports
  • Operating the KIP scanner and printer, office copier, binding machine, postage machine, letter folder
  • Assisting with project filing and scanning
  • Proofreading documents that are sent out
  • Stocking the production center, copy rooms, and conference rooms
  • Taking outgoing mail to the post office box
  • Setting up and taking down for meetings
  • Running errands
  • Additional administrative support duties, as needed

Candidates who are interested in this position will need to have the following qualifications:

  • Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Word
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Accurate typing skills (45 wpm)
  • Ability to prioritize multiple assignments

Construction Field Services Representatives – Brookfield, WI

R.A. Smith National has a number of openings available for both full-time seasonal and on-call construction field services representatives in our Construction Services Division. Employee benefits are provided for full-time seasonal positions. We are looking for civil engineers or individuals who have previous inspection experience doing either roadway/DOT or municipal projects.

Candidates selected for these positions will monitor the activities of contractors on construction sites and the construction process to verify that work completed is in accordance with contract documents; assist the Construction Manager with the coordination of all construction activities; provide daily inspection of construction activities; and assist in scheduling of equipment and/or material delivery to meet project schedules.

Candidates must have at least five years of experience and possess a working knowledge of basic surveying in addition to the ability to work efficiently in Excel.

Ecologist/Project Manager – Pittsburgh, PA

Our firm is currently seeking a full-time ecologist/project manager at our Pittsburgh location. This is an exciting opportunity as the successful candidate will be assisting us to build our ecological services group in the Pittsburgh marketplace.

Candidates should have 5 to 10 years of professional experience, in addition to the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Pennsylvania regulatory programs and guidance (working relationships with agency staff is a plus).
  • Knowledge of the flora and fauna in Pennsylvania and surrounding ecoregion.
  • Field experience in wetland and waterway delineation, as well as reporting and permitting.
  • Wetland mitigation design experience is a plus.
  • Natural resource inventory, assessment and mapping.
  • Experience using Trimble GEO XH GPS units to collect field data.
  • General understanding of computer-aided mapping software (e.g., ArcMap).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Project management experience (proposal writing, client coordination, invoicing, etc.).

The successful candidate must also satisfy the following requirements:

  • B.S. in Environmental Science or related degree (MS or PhD a plus).
  • 5 to 10 years of related work experience.
  • Excellent oral, written and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated, positive, organized and ability to work independently.
  • Be able to travel, as projects require, and be willing to work in sometimes difficult field situations.

CADD Technician - Brookfield/Appleton, WI

The position of Cadd Technician is currently available for a qualified candidate with 0 to 5 years of experience. The candidate selected for this position could work out of either the Brookfield or Appleton, WI offices. Job responsibilities include the preparation of simple plan drawings, using computer aided drafting techniques to perform applicable detailing, and alteration of drawings to conform with engineering changes, in addition to the preparation of plan sets for submittals and or meetings. Candidates for this position must have a good understanding of AutoCAD, and an understanding of Microstation for use in the Transportation Division is preferred. An Associates Degree in Civil Engineering or completion of a technical school’s technician program is also required.

Project Manager - Site Design – Pittsburgh, PA

R.A. Smith National is seeking a Project Manager – Civil Site Design for our Pittsburgh office to help our clients create success. We are seeking a candidate that is experienced with balancing sites, creating utility designs and has storm water management experience.  The candidate must be adept in making design changes as conditions require while maintaining schedules and budgets.

Land Development Project Coordinator

The Land Development Project Coordinator reports to the Senior Development Director at the company’s Naperville, Illinois office, and manages due diligence, scheduling of sub-consultants and new real estate development projects. The Project Coordinator is also responsible for managing municipal research, initial site planning and the project sub consultants from inception to construction. Additional responsibilities include the development and maintenance of project schedules.

Desired Skills and Experience:

Candidates for this position should have a degree in Architecture, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Planning or other related degree along with real estate development experience and the ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities. Candidates should be detail driven, with a general understanding of building and site design; have a working knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations and municipal approvals/permits and have strong written and verbal communication skills; the ability to meet deadlines and provide high quality service to clients; ability to multi-task and quickly adapt to changing priorities. Candidates will have proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and MS Project. AutoCAD experience is desired, but not required.

Survey Party Chief

The Pittsburgh office has an opening for a Survey Party Chief who will be responsible for planning, organizing, and surveying land surfaces to determine precise location and measurements of points, elevations, lines, areas, and contours for construction projects, mapmaking, land division, titles or other purposes. Additional responsibilities include performing calculations and preparing reports in support of all survey activities. Individuals selected for this position will be highly motivated and self-starters with 3 to 5 years of experience as a Party Chief. They will also be proficient operating Trimble software and GPS equipment. A working knowledge of Civil3D is a plus, along with the ability to use other survey software.

Project Manager – Construction Services – Appleton, WI
We are seeking a candidate for the position of Project Manager for our Construction Services Group at our Appleton, Wisconsin location. The candidate selected for this position will direct and coordinate the construction inspection of Wisconsin DOT projects.  
Responsibilities:

  • Maintains daily reports
  • Monitors project progress
  • Reviews reports
  • Oversees compliance with specifications, plans and schedules
  • Assigns projects to appropriate staff and is responsible for determining personnel needs and schedules to assure work meets client specifications  
  • Ensures profitability of projects and advises the Manager of DOT Construction Services of the project status and problems or potential problems on a regular basis
