Construction Limits:
C.T.H. "Q"; County Line Road from Colgate Road to C.T.H. "Y" (Lannon Road)
2007 Construction Information
Construction is scheduled to begin on C.T.H. "Q" on Monday, April 30, 2007. Waukesha County Department of Public Works has hired Hoffman Construction Company to do this work and R.A. Smith & Associates, Inc. (name changed to R.A. Smith National, effective March 17, 2008) to manage the project. The construction will include the removal of the existing road from a point west of C.T.H. "Y" to a point west of C.T.H. "V," the replacement with new asphaltic boulevard roadway with left turn lanes, concrete curb and gutter, and driveway approaches. The work also includes rubblizing the road from a point west of C.T.H. "V" to a point west of Colgate Road and overlaying the rubblized surface with 6.5" of asphalt.
C.T.H. "Q" is anticipated to be done in three stages. The first stage has two parts. In Stage 1A the north side of the road from C.T.H. "Y" to C.T.H. "V" will be constructed. Stage 1B includes the rubblized section from C.T.H. "V" to Colgate Road. The rubblized section will be done with that section of the road closed from April 30 through May 24. There will be a detour utilizing S.T.H. 175 north to S.T.H. 167, west to S.T.H. 164 and south to C.T.H. "Q."
Stage 2 will place traffic on the newly constructed roadway and construct the south half of the road from C.T.H. "Y" to C.T.H. "V."
Stage 3 will be constructing the cross over areas west of C.T.H. "V" and west of C.T.H. "Y." The contractor shall maintain access to all businesses at all times. Except for the detour, C.T.H. "Q" and all side roads will be open during construction at all times. Residential driveways may be closed periodically, but residents shall be given reasonable notice prior to limiting access.
All businesses on the project site are encouraged to inform their customers of the construction process.
If you have any existing drain or field tile, please contact me so that I can ensure these tiles are connected to the new storm sewer system.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the safety hazards around a construction project. Driving at a reduced speed will make it safer for everyone concerned. The speed limit will be reduced to 25 MPH within the construction limits for the duration of the project. Also, a highway project makes a very dangerous but attractive playground for children. Please warn them of the dangers and please keep them clear of the construction area.
If you have any questions or requests, please contact Ted Kautzman; on site Project Engineer, for Waukesha County at 262-317-3387. My normal business hours are between 6:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.; however, I will be able to stay after hours if prior arrangements are made.
